There is excitement in the camp of Team Nigeria for the FIBA U-18 Qualifying tournament scheduled for Abidjan from July 29 to August 4. Six U.S.-based stars invited by the Nigeria Basketball Federation, out of the expected 25 players, have reported to the camp, which opens on Tuesday, July 9, in Port Harcourt.
The invited players, who will train under veteran youth coach Fubara Humphrey, include 19 home-based players and 6 U.S.-based players.
The invited players are Bassey Ekpo Effiong, Abraham Boyce Hart, Ikechukwu Divine Chinazom, Emmanuel Ekpo Okon, Duru Augustine Chinedu, Sani Samuel, Tob-Ogu Okechukwu, Ununuma Set Ikpe, Azeez Suleiman, Ebenezer Dawaye Abass, Kpee Favour Komene, and Victor Bob-Manuel.
Others are Agboola Olamide, Precious Johha, Simeon Gabriel Okorie, Ezekiel Isaac Oluwatemitope, Daubuna Ibrahimdau-Mutum, Babatunde Abdulsamad Adeshina, and Iwundu Daniel Chibuzor.
The U.S.-based players are Favour Ibe, Ethan Ngboko, David Ugonna, Joan Ojako, Chiozoje Owinje, and Dothan Ijadimbola.
Meanwhile, the second phase of qualifiers will be held from August 16-25 in South Africa.
