As Nigeria's female basketball team, D’Tigress, intensifies efforts in preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the head coach, Rena Wakama, has assured that the team possesses the quality needed to perform well when the competition begins in late July.
Coach Wakama expressed her strong belief in the team and is optimistic about their chances for a successful outing against the top teams in this prestigious competition.
She noted that, based on the training sessions the players have had since arriving in Germany for the Paris 2024 Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 10, they are poised for a successful story.
D’Tigress has traveled to Saarbrücken, Germany, to begin their pre-Olympics training camp.
Ahead of this global multi-sport event, Coach Rena assured that her players would not rest on their laurels, emphasizing that they would compete fiercely on the court against their opponents.
“Things have been going well in the camp over the last few days, as we have had great practice sessions, and the girls are in high spirits,” Wakama remarked.
“The girls are responding well to training and improving every day, and that’s what matters.
“I am confident that the girls will be able to showcase their talents when we get to Paris. I’m excited and looking forward to the games.”
Meanwhile, the team will test their skills in three friendly matches. They will face Germany in Berlin on July 19, take on Serbia in Belgrade on July 21, and play Japan in Lille, France, on July 24.
