Steph Curry made history on Wednesday by surpassing NBA legend Charles Barkley on the all-time scoring list as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 118-112. Curry, a four-time NBA champion, scored 27 points and added a triple double to his tally, moving into 30th place on the all-time scoring list. His performance helped the Warriors secure their fifth consecutive victory.
Curry surpassed Barkley’s 23,746 career points in the third quarter, registering the 23,747th point of his career. This milestone came as a significant achievement for the 34-year-old guard, who has been an instrumental figure in the Warriors' success over the years. Meanwhile, Barkley, a Hall of Fame player, had been vocal in his criticism of Curry, even predicting that the Warriors would have a "mediocre" season.
In other NBA action, the Cleveland Cavaliers set a new franchise record with their ninth consecutive win, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 131-122. Donovan Mitchell led the charge for the Cavaliers, contributing 29 points in the victory, solidifying the team's strong start to the season.
The LA Lakers, however, suffered a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, falling 131-114 despite LeBron James's season-high 39-point performance. Lakers head coach JJ Redick praised James for his efforts, noting that the nearly 40-year-old superstar played with immense determination, saying, "He played the hardest on our team, and it says a lot about him."
