Spectacular Performances Highlight Day 2 of FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2023: Serbia and France Dominate pool play

On the second day of the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2023, Serbia (Men) and France (Women) emerged victorious in their respective matches. The defending champions, Serbia (Men), faced a challenging match against Austria, falling behind early. However, Nemanja Barac's performance, including crucial points, led them to a thrilling win, thanks to Strahinja Stojacic's game-winning shot. They later defeated Israel and advanced to the Quarter-Finals against the Netherlands.
France (Men) also had a flawless performance in Pool Play. Timothé Vergiat and Hugo Suhard contributed 15 points in total, securing a 21-12 victory over Croatia and handling the Netherlands effectively. Leandro Cavaliere played a pivotal role, scoring 11 points in the latter game. They advanced to face Austria in the Quarter-Finals.
Reigning champions France (Women) displayed excellent defense in their matches, preventing Ukraine and Czechia from gaining momentum. Myriam Djekoundade's defensive skills, along with the scoring prowess of Laetitia Guapo and Marie-Eve Paget, were instrumental. Paget scored four two-pointers in the first game, finishing with 8 points. They now face Portugal in the Quarter-Finals.
In an eventful Pool Play, Lithuania (Women) faced a tough challenge against Portugal but made a comeback to win in overtime, thanks to Kamile Nacickaite's outstanding performance. They secured their Quarter-Finals spot by defeating Hungary and will take on Czechia next.
Unfortunately, Ukraine (Women) and Hungary (Women) ended their campaign in Pool Play.
Notable individual performances include Nemanja Barac's 14 points and leadership for Serbia (Men), Leopold Cavaliere's 11-point performance and defensive impact for France (Men), and Laetitia Guapo's clutch play, leading in scoring and rebounds for France (Women). Kamile Nacickaite of Lithuania (Women) stood out with 17 points and an impressive Player Value score of 16.0, contributing to their comeback and OT victory against Portugal.
