Spanish basketball star Iyana Martin Carrion wins TISSOT Most Valuable Player award at FIBA U19 World Cup

Iyana Martin Carrion, the Spanish basketball star, received the prestigious TISSOT Most Valuable Player award at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2023. Despite Spain narrowly missing their first-ever title with a 69-66 loss to USA in the final, Martin Carrion's outstanding contributions were recognized.
 
With a performance efficiency valuation of 18.6, Martin Carrion led Spain with an average of 16.1 points per game, along with 3.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.6 steals.
 
Joining Martin Carrion in the All-Star Five were USA's Joyce Edwards and Hannah Hidalgo, Canada's Toby Fournier, and France's Leila Lacan.
 
Joyce Edwards played a pivotal role in USA's victory, leading the champions with an efficiency rating of 16.6 per game and averaging 12.6 points and 6.1 rebounds.
 
Hannah Hidalgo's impact extended beyond numbers, as her defense and intensity played a crucial role in her team's success. She contributed 10.7 points, a team-high 5.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game.
 
Toby Fournier from Canada claimed a bronze medal and showcased an impressive double-double performance, scoring 16.1 points and leading the tournament with 13.7 rebounds per game, along with 2.1 blocks per outing.
 
Leila Lacan demonstrated excellent leadership for France, solidifying her place in the prestigious All-Star lineup with an all-action display of 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.9 assists per game.
