After securing their second consecutive ticket to the 2025 African Basketball League, Rivers Hoopers coach Ogoh Odaudu has promised an improved performance from the team while representing Nigeria.
The Nigerian representative was a major revelation in the 2024 edition of the competition, narrowly missing out on the final.

Hoopers qualified for the competition with a 71-54 victory over Lagos-based Hoops and Read to claim the 2024 NBBF Final 8 title.
"One of the things we are going to focus on is continuity.
"You’ll notice that every BAL season, teams come with completely different rosters than they had the previous year."
"We are going to try to limit that as much as possible and come back with almost the same group of players that we used to compete in the last campaign," Odaudu stated.
He added that they aim to continue from where they left off in the last edition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
"It’s not guaranteed that we will have them, but we are already in talks with them,” Odaudu said.
“The only players we are sure of right now are Peter and Kelvin, who helped us qualify."
"We don’t want to be seen as just participants when we go to the continent; we want to compete," Odaudu said.
“We tried to do something different last year, and we achieved that. If not for a few mistakes, we would have been in the final."
“We want to go there now and make sure that what we do is entirely different. We are here to stay, and it’s not just a fluke thing—one season in, one season out," he said.
