Pascal Siakam has made his intention clear to commit long-term to the Indiana Pacers, planning to sign a four-year, $189.5 million maximum contract, sources informed ESPN on Wednesday. The Pacers' president of basketball operations, Kevin Pritchard, along with general manager Chad Buchanan, formally presented the lucrative offer to Siakam and his representatives from Life Sports Agency on Tuesday, taking advantage of the NBA's new early negotiation window post-NBA Finals.
Siakam, who arrived via a significant trade with the Toronto Raptors in January, played a pivotal role in guiding the Pacers to their first Eastern Conference finals appearance in a decade. His impressive performance during the postseason further solidified the Pacers' pursuit of the 30-year-old forward, betting on his championship experience and All-NBA caliber to complement star guard Tyrese Haliburton.
The proposed contract extension would tie Siakam to Indiana through 2029, alongside Haliburton, who signed a five-year, $245 million max deal last year, marking the Pacers' largest financial commitments in franchise history. Since joining Indiana, Siakam's on-court contributions have been notable, averaging 21.3 points on 55% shooting and 39% from beyond the arc across 41 regular-season games.
Siakam's career trajectory, from his NBA debut as the 26th pick in the 2016 draft to earning the Most Improved Player award in 2019 with Toronto's championship squad, underscores his evolution into a top-tier player coveted by the Pacers for their future aspirations.
