Partizan triumphs in historic Manama Masters, emerging as new 3x3 Basketball force

Posted : 18 November 2023
In a thrilling culmination of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, Partizan from Serbia secured victory at the inaugural Manama Masters, marking a new chapter for the team. Following a runner-up finish in Abu Dhabi, Partizan exhibited an unbeaten performance from the qualifying draw to claim the title with a flawless 7-0 record.

The team, led by the dominant Marko Stevanovic, showcased their resilience by overcoming tough challenges from Vienna, Hangzhou, and Antwerp TOPdesk in the knockout stages. Each player contributed significantly, with all four scoring at least 20 points, solidifying Partizan's emergence as a formidable force in the 3x3 basketball scene.

Antwerp TOPdesk, having faced a rough patch after their victory in Lausanne, demonstrated a strong resurgence as they reached the final. The Belgian duo of Jonas Foerts and Dennis Donkor exhibited exceptional synergy, accumulating a remarkable 75 points.

Antwerp's solid defense proved challenging for opponents throughout the competition, although they ultimately succumbed to Partizan in a closely contested final. Despite the defeat, Antwerp can take pride in their commendable efforts and the promising form displayed as they approach the Jeddah Final.

Raudondvaris Hoptrans from Lithuania clinched a title on this season's World Tour, representing the basketball prowess of the nation. Meanwhile, Marijampole Mantinga, another Lithuanian team, made a notable impact by navigating a challenging Pool B and upsetting strong opponents like Amsterdam HiPRO. Evaldas Dziaugys emerged as a standout performer for Marijampole, showcasing his skills with 31 points in four games, concluding the 2023 season on a high note.

On the other hand, top-ranked Ub Huishan NE from Serbia faced difficulties in the absence of their key player, Strahinja Stojacic, resulting in a winless campaign. Despite their spectacular play, the Serbian team experienced disappointment and will aim to regroup for the upcoming Jeddah Final.

Amsterdam HiPRO, yet to secure success in this season's World Tour, faces its last chance in Hong Kong, with Worthy de Jong shining as a standout performer with electrifying plays, including powerful dunks. The Manama Masters marked a historic event as the World Tour descended on Bahrain's capital, Manama, providing fans with an incredible atmosphere and a stunning venue at the Bahrain Harbour North, complete with a captivating light and music show under the Magic Sky roof.
