Paris 2024 Olympics: Canada match, a must win, says D'Tigress coach

The coach of Nigeria's D'Tigress, Rene Wakama, has declared that the match against Canada, which will be a defining moment for the team, is a must-win as she focuses solely on victory.


The African champions will face Canada on Sunday in their final group game, and a win is crucial to secure a place in the knockout round.

D'Tigress started the competition on an impressive note by beating Australia in the opening game, but they lost to the host country, France, in the second game.


Canada, on the other hand, has suffered back-to-back defeats to France and Australia. A win on Sunday could propel them into the knockout round.


Wakama was disappointed with the result against France but said the team is motivated for the upcoming game.


"While we are disappointed with the result against France, we are motivated to put in a strong performance against Canada. A win will ensure our place in the next round," she said.
