Organisers stake N8M for grabs as CDS Independence Day basketball championship hits Abuja

In the continued celebration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. C.G. Musa OFR, has organized a prestigious basketball championship, featuring an impressive N8 million prize purse.


The tournament, ongoing in Abuja, started on Wednesday, October 2, and will end on the 6th at the Mo Arena, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, in what promises to be an exciting display of skill and athleticism.


According to the organizers, the championship aims to promote unity, teamwork, and healthy competition among Nigerian basketball teams while also showcasing the country’s rich basketball talent.


Winners will receive N4 million, the runner-up will get N2.5 million, and the third place will earn N1.5 million.


The championship features a round-robin group stage followed by knockout stages.


The teams are competing in two groups of five teams each, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
