Ondrej Svec wins Most Valuable Player award at FIBA U20 European Championship, leading Czech Republic to Division B title

Ondrej Svec received the prestigious accolade of Most Valuable Player at the FIBA U20 European Championship 2023, Division B, as he played a vital role in leading the Czech Republic to their first-ever U20 Division B title.

In the Final against North Macedonia, Svec displayed an impressive all-around performance, contributing 4 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, and 1 steal in their 85-72 victory.

Throughout the championship, Svec maintained strong averages of 12.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.4 steals, ranking second on the team in points, rebounds, and assists, and sharing the lead in steals.
 
Svec was not the only Czech player recognized for his outstanding performance, as his teammate Ondrej Hustak also made it to the All-Star Five. Hustak led the Czechs in scoring in the Final with 17 points and contributed 9 rebounds.

Over the course of the tournament, he averaged 10.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, ranking third in scoring and first in rebounds among the Czech players.
 
Joining Svec and Hustak in the All-Star Five were Teodor Simikj from North Macedonia, Oleksandr Kobzystyi from Ukraine, and Sweden's Felix Brostrom.

Simikj showcased his skills despite his team's loss in the title bout, scoring 23 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists, and blocking 3 shots. He averaged an impressive 16.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game during the tournament.
 
Kobzystyi was a key player for Ukraine, leading the team in scoring and rebounds with an average of 17.0 points and 8.1 boards per game, along with 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals. Brostrom from Sweden showcased his shooting prowess, averaging 15.4 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting an impressive 47 percent from three-point range.
