Nigerian basketball star Amy Okonkwo has been recognized with the prestigious Tissot Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for her outstanding performance in leading her country to victory in the FIBA Women's AfroBasket championship.
The D'Tigress, Nigeria's women's national basketball team, secured their fourth consecutive title by defeating Senegal 84-74 in an intense final held in Kigali on Saturday.
Okonkwo's exceptional skills and leadership on the court earned her a well-deserved spot on the All-Tournament team, where she was joined by other standout players such as Cierra Dillard (Senegal), Jannon Otto (Uganda), Sika Kone (Mali), and Tamara Seda (Mozambique).
Throughout the competition, the 26-year-old showcased her immense talent, averaging an impressive 17.2 points and contributing 8.2 rebounds per game. Her consistency and tenacity were instrumental in Nigeria's undefeated run (5-0) in Kigali, where they dominated their opponents.
