Ahead of the 2023 Women's Afrobasket Championship in Kigali, Rwanda, Nigeria's D'Tigress preparation suffered a setback on Wednesday as one of their major players in the team pulled out of the competition.
The Nigerian side departed the country on Tuesday afternoon en route Kigali and all the invited players are expected to be on board.
Erica Ogwumike is among the players that is expected to carry the country's flag in Rwanda but she decided to pull out due to her medical exam in the United States.
Ogwumike wrote: "Misinformation. I was invited but unfortunately could not attend due to medical school obligations, as I am starting my last year.
``Wishing my sisters success in the upcoming tournament!"
The defending champions, Nigeria, will face DR Congo in the opening game of the championship on Friday.
