Nuggets secure first NBA title with Jokic's 28 points

The Denver Nuggets secured their first NBA title with a 94-89 victory over the Miami Heat, completing a 4-1 series win.
 
Nikola Jokic played a pivotal role, scoring 28 points to lead the Nuggets to their long-awaited championship after a 47-year wait.
 
Jokic, a Serbian player, was named the Finals' Most Valuable Player, adding to his previous accolades of winning the overall MVP in 2021 and 2022.
 
Speaking after the win at Ball Arena, Jokic emphasized the team's collective spirit, saying, "We're not in it for ourselves, we're in it for the guy next to us, and that's why this [victory] means even more."
 
Jokic also contributed with 16 rebounds, while Michael Porter Jr. added 16 points and 13 rebounds in the crucial Game 5.
 
Throughout the playoffs, the Nuggets never lost more than two games in any series, finishing their journey to a historic championship with an impressive record of 10 victories in their last 11 postseason games.
 
In Game 5, Denver trailed 71-70 at the start of the fourth quarter and 89-88 with less than two minutes remaining. However, they rallied back and took the lead with a lay-up from Bruce Brown, securing the victory.
 
Despite Jimmy Butler's 21 points and Bam Adebayo's 20 points for Miami, the Heat couldn't keep their hopes of a comeback alive.
 
Out of the 36 teams that had previously been down 3-1 in an NBA Finals series, only the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 managed to come back and win the championship.
 
Expressing his joy, Jokic said, "It was an amazing effort by the team. That is why basketball is a fun sport; it is a live thing. You cannot say this is going to happen; there are so many factors. I'm just happy we won the game."
 
Nuggets coach Michael Malone addressed the home fans, stating, "I've got news for everyone out there. We are not satisfied with one," indicating their ambition to continue achieving success.
