Nelly Junior Joseph arrives from Nigeria

Nelly Junior Joseph, a 6-foot-10 transfer from Iona, arrived in Albuquerque on Tuesday after his student visa hold-up in Nigeria was resolved. He is expected to see minutes in Thursday's exhibition opener against CSU-Pueblo.

Joseph's arrival is a big boost for the Lobos, who are projected to finish third in the preseason Mountain West media poll and make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade. Joseph is a two-time first team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selection and was impressive against Kentucky in the GLOBL Jam tournament in July, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

The Lobos have been without Joseph all summer and fall preseason, but he has been working out and taking online classes. He is fully eligible to play and is expected to be a key contributor for UNM this season.
