NBA Season Opener: Denver triumphs, Phoenix impresses, Durant shines
Posted : 25 October 2023
The NBA season commenced with a resounding statement from the defending champions, Denver, as they secured a 117-109 victory, highlighted by a triple-double performance from their star player.
LeBron James, in a 29-minute appearance, contributed 21 points. On the other hand, the Suns, despite the absence of Bradley Beal, showcased an impressive performance led by Devin Booker, ultimately prevailing over Golden State with a score of 108-104.
In a highly anticipated return, the NBA featured two marquee matchups. Denver, who received their championship rings before the game, began the season with a victory against the Lakers, setting the stage for a rematch after their showdown in the Western Conference semifinals last year.
Meanwhile, Phoenix, playing without Bradley Beal, exhibited an outstanding away win against Golden State.
Kevin Durant was celebrated both off and on the court, with an emotional tribute at Oracle Arena followed by a remarkable victory alongside his teammates.
However, Golden State, missing Draymond Green, endured a painful defeat in their season opener with the addition of Chris Paul.
The game between Golden State and Phoenix saw several twists and turns, with Phoenix taking an early lead, only for Golden State to mount a comeback in the third quarter. The final minutes of the game were marked by crucial plays, including a game-changing three-pointer by Eric Gordon, sealing Phoenix's 106-101 victory.
Devin Booker led the Suns with 32 points, while Yusuf Nurkic, in his debut for the Suns, made a decisive contribution with 14 points and 14 rebounds. In the end, Phoenix emerged victorious in a thrilling contest.
