In order to qualify for the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime, while Trae Young's 25 points against the Miami Heat helped the Atlanta Hawks earn the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
With a nail-biting 108-102 victory over the Timberwolves in overtime, the Lakers secured seventh spot in the Western Conference playoffs behind LeBron James' inspired effort.
Dennis Schroder scored 21 points, including two free throws with 8.4 seconds left to seal the game, to go along with 30 points and 10 rebounds from LeBron James.
For the Wolves, who will play at home against either New Orleans or Oklahoma City on Friday for the eighth spot and a first-round matchup with top-seeded Denver starting on Sunday, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 24 points, and Mike Conley sank three free throws with 0.1 seconds left in regulation to tie it.
On Wednesday night, the Pelicans and Thunder will square off, and the winner will determine whether Minnesota advances to the playoffs for the third time in 19 seasons.
Los Angeles made it through the back-and-forth match with Minnesota, who played the first three quarters with stars Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels out but still put forth an amazing effort.
