NBA play-offs: Miami Heat defeats the Boston Celtics moves close to championship final
Posted : 22 May 2023
After a convincing 128-102 victory against the Boston Celtics in game three of the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Miami Heat are one win away from reaching the NBA finals.
3-0 is the Heat's advantage in the best-of-seven series. Gabe Vincent, the point guard, scored 29 points, and they will host game four on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Lakers or the Denver Nuggets will be the opponents of the victors.
As of Tuesday's game four of the Western Conference finals, the Nuggets are up 3-0.
After veteran Kevin Love was forced to leave the game early due to an ankle injury, Vincent made six three-pointers while Duncan Robinson and Caleb Martin each scored 22 and 18 points off the bench.
They went on a 9-2 scoring spree to conclude the frantic, physical first quarter, extending their lead to 30-22 and to 22 points in the second.
Although they were able to close the distance, Boston struggled from beyond the arc. Jayson Tatum hit just one of his seven three-point tries, while Jaylen Brown missed all seven of his. Add in their numerous turnovers, and Boston's halftime deficit was the largest in a postseason game this year.
After that, with Miami leading 93-63 heading into the fourth quarter and the bewildered Celtics spending more than three minutes without scoring, there was no turning back for them.
