Los Angeles Lakers secured a 127-97 victory over the Golden State Warriors and a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals thanks to LeBron James.
James did not attempt a field goal in the opening frame but still finished with 21 points.
For the Lakers, Anthony Davis had 25 points and 13 rebounds.
The Miami Heat defeated the New York Knicks 105-86 to advance 2-1 in their Eastern Conference semifinals thanks to Jimmy Butler's comeback.
Butler scored 28 points, converting nine of 21 field goals and 10 of 11 free throw attempts, while missing game two of the best-of-seven series due to an ankle ailment.
The Lakers and the reigning champion Warriors will play the fourth game of their playoff series on the same day as the Heat and Knicks' upcoming matchup.
"We wanted to get back to our roots, and defending and guarding," said Davis after victory for the Lakers in game three.
"This is a tough team to guard but we know that we can do it and we did it well tonight, holding them to 97 points."
He added: "It's a battle. Two teams that want it and can score and can give each other a beat down any given night.
"We know they're going to come out with a lot of firepower trying not to go down 3-1. We've got to have the mindset we had tonight."
