NBA: Boston Celtics defeat Atlanta Hawks to advance to the playoff semifinals

The Boston Celtics defeated the Atlanta Hawks in an exciting game 128-120 to advance to the Eastern Conference play-off semifinals.

The Celtics won the best-of-seven series 4-2, with Jaylen Brown scoring 32 points and Jayson Tatum contributing 30.

The Philadelphia 76ers, who last weekend swept the Brooklyn Nets 4-0, will be their opponent.

Following the Miami Heat's unexpected victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, the Celtics are the top seeds left in their conference.

Trae Young, whose late three-pointer gave the Hawks the win in the previous game, scored 30 points with 10 assists in a game that saw 22 lead changes.

Only five of those points, though, came in the second half as Atlanta started to lose steam.

The Celtics gained control of the game thanks to a run of 11 consecutive points in the fourth quarter, which included three straight three-pointers from Brown Tatum and Al Horford.

"We talked about finishing the game," Horford said.

"I felt the last game, for the most part, we were fine but tonight there was that sense of urgency. We understood how important it was to not extend the series."

On Monday in Boston, the first game of the Celtics' semi-final matchup with the 76ers will be played.
