Mavericks’ Luka Doncic Sanctioned $35K For Money Reference Gesture

The NBA said on Friday that Mavericks star Luka Doncic had been fined $35,000 for making "an inappropriate and unprofessional gesture toward a game official."

With 1.7 seconds left in Wednesday's 127-125 loss to the Golden State Warriors, Doncic stared down a referee while rubbing his fingers together in what appeared to be a reference to money.

Doncic did not receive a technical foul for his gesticulation, in spite of his frustration after many missed calls on his drives to the basket throughout the defeat. With 15 technical fouls this season, he is just one away from an immediate one-game ban.

After a Golden State dunk went unchallenged late in the third quarter due to misunderstanding over whose side had control of the ball, Mavericks governor Mark Cuban revealed that the team has informed the league that it is contesting the defeat. Within five days of the game's completion, the Mavericks must submit supporting documentation for their protest.
