Luka Doncic Stars as Mavericks Dominate Magic 108-85

Luka Doncic showcased an impressive performance, contributing 32 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as the Dallas Mavericks secured a commanding 108-85 victory over the Orlando Magic on Sunday. Doncic's scoring prowess was evident early on, as he netted 14 points in the first quarter, helping the Mavericks establish a 30-22 lead. By halftime, Dallas had built a significant advantage, leading 65-40, with Doncic finishing the first half with 25 points, including five three-pointers.

 

Describing the game as "real fun," Doncic highlighted the Mavericks' defensive effort and their fast-paced play. He expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting their effectiveness in guarding opponents and securing rebounds. The momentum carried into the second half, with Dallas extending their lead to 82-52 on a free throw from Doncic, and at one point, they led by as much as 33 points in the fourth quarter.

 

In addition to Doncic's stellar play, Daniel Gafford added a season-high 18 points for the Mavericks, while Kyrie Irving contributed 17 points. Dereck Lively II also made a notable impact with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The victory marked a continued struggle for Orlando, who suffered their third consecutive loss, struggling with their shooting as they made only eight of 41 attempts from beyond the arc. The team is currently without All-Star forward Paolo Banchero, who is sidelined due to an abdominal muscle injury and is expected to be out for at least the next four weeks.

 

Elsewhere in the league, the Detroit Pistons rebounded from a significant defeat to the New York Knicks, securing their second victory of the season with a 106-92 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 19 points, and for the first time this season, all starters scored in double figures. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks triumphed over the injury-riddled New Orleans Pelicans, with Jalen Johnson scoring 29 points and Trae Young adding 23 points, four rebounds, and 12 assists. Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with a game-high 32 points, but it was not enough to prevent their first home loss of the season.
