LeBron James, Anthony Davis Lead Lakers to Victory Over Raptors

Posted : 11 November 2024

Anthony Davis and LeBron James were pivotal in the Los Angeles Lakers' 123-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors, with both players delivering standout performances. Davis contributed 22 points in just 26 minutes before being forced to leave the game with an eye injury after attempting to block a shot from Jakob Poeltl. This injury comes after a series of eye-related issues last season, including a corneal abrasion and a subsequent hit to his left eye.

LeBron James also had a remarkable game, finishing with 19 points, 16 assists, and 10 rebounds, marking his second consecutive triple-double. At 39 years old, James became the oldest player in NBA history to record such a feat, which was his third triple-double of the season and the 115th of his career. Despite trailing for much of the game, the Lakers mounted a comeback, cutting the Raptors’ 10-point lead in the second quarter and eventually taking control in the second half with a 16-5 run.

The Raptors had initially held a 34-26 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 48-38 advantage early in the second, but the Lakers fought back to trim the deficit to just two points at halftime. Toronto continued to lead 77-72 midway through the third quarter, but the Lakers’ surge in the final minutes of the period helped them seize control of the game, never looking back after that pivotal run.

In other NBA action, Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a 127-116 win over Oklahoma City with 36 points, including seven three-pointers. However, despite a 43-point effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks fell short against the Boston Celtics, losing 113-107. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 31 points and 12 rebounds, while Payton Pritchard added 18 off the bench. Antetokounmpo's aggressive play saw him elbow Jaylen Brown to the floor, though the incident was brushed off by Brown, who stayed focused on securing the win.
