According to sources, Los Angeles Lakers forward Christian Wood is set to undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee, anticipating a lengthy absence from the court. Wood has already been sidelined for over a month due to swelling in his knee, a condition that emerged during the All-Star break.
Despite signing a one-year, veterans minimum contract with the Lakers in the offseason, the 28-year-old forward has contributed 6.9 points, shooting 46.6% from the field and 30.7% from beyond the arc, along with 5.1 rebounds per game across 50 appearances this season.
As the Lakers vie for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, Wood's absence presents a challenge, particularly with only 13 games remaining in the regular season and the team holding a narrow lead over the Golden State Warriors for the No. 9 seed.
With their regular-season finale scheduled for April 14, the Lakers must navigate through the remainder of the season without one of their key contributors, heightening the importance of player availability and performance down the stretch.
