Star player Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers will miss Game 4 on Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets due to a right knee strain.
According to reports, Embiid, who traveled back to Philadelphia on Friday for a knee MRI, might be back in the lineup as early as next week.
If the Sixers don't win Game 4 of their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series on Saturday in Brooklyn, it's still unclear if they'll be back in time for a potential Game 5 on Monday.
The Sixers have a 3-0 advantage against the Nets in the best-of-seven series. A Game 6 might occur on Thursday in Brooklyn.
On Thursday, Embiid, the favorite to win the NBA's Most Valuable Player Award, suffered a knee injury while blocking Cam Johnson of the Nets' drive. He was spotted pulling at his knee as still hobbled up the floor, but he participated in the 102-97 triumph.
After the game, Embiid was sporting a sizable ice pack on his knee but claimed he felt OK. The All-Star center was put to the 76ers' injured list on Friday night.
This season, Embiid averaged 33.1 points and earned his second consecutive scoring championship. Without him, the Sixers finished the regular season 11-5.
