Joel Embiid fined $35,000 for "suck it" gesture, invited to WrestleMania 40 by Triple H

Philadelphia 76ers' standout, Joel Embiid, found himself in a unique situation after receiving an invitation to WrestleMania 40 from none other than Triple H, the legendary WWE figurehead. However, this invitation was the result of a hefty fine levied against Embiid for what the NBA labeled "obscene gestures" during the 76ers' commanding 126-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. In response to these antics, he was fined $35,000 for mimicking the "Suck It" celebration popularized by WWE's D-Generation X.
The incident occurred in the second quarter, right after Embiid executed a spectacular full-court pass, culminating in a layup. Despite the fine, Embiid's performance on the court was stellar, as he contributed 35 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 blocks.
D-Generation X, led by Triple H and Shawn Michaels, was the epitome of WWE entertainment. In light of Embiid's situation, Triple H, who currently holds the position of chief content officer and head of creative at WWE, extended an interesting proposition.
WrestleMania 40, WWE's grandest annual event, is scheduled to take place in April at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, home to the Eagles. Unfortunately, the Sixers have away games against the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs on consecutive nights during that weekend, making it improbable for Embiid to attend.
Notably, this isn't the first time Joel Embiid has been fined for such gestures, as he received a $25,000 fine for a similar celebration against the Brooklyn Nets in January. He has previously expressed his admiration for D-Generation X, explaining that whenever the opportunity arises, he likes to pay homage to his wrestling idols. Triple H has also been involved in the Sixers' pregame rituals alongside Embiid in the past.
