Ja Morant: Memphis Grizzlies suspend player after he allegedly holds a pistol again
Posted : 15 May 2023
Ja Morant, a key player for the Memphis Grizzlies, has been "banned from all team activities" after once more seeming to wield a pistol in a social media video.
During a live Instagram video on Saturday, Morant, 23, and a companion seemed to hold up a pistol for a brief period of time in a car.
The NBA banned the All-Star guard for eight games without pay in March after a video surfaced of him clutching a pistol in a bar in Colorado.
The NBA declared that it is investigating the second occurrence.
"We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information," said Mike Bass, NBA spokesperson.
Morant's ban is "pending League review," according to the Grizzlies.
After the March event, Morant expressed regret and claimed "full responsibility" for his behaviour.
After some thought, he acknowledged "what I have to lose" and promised to "focus on learning better techniques of coping with stress and my general wellness."
During his suspension, Morant also received counselling.
