Hoops and Heritage: The 4th Ibadan Basketball Championship

The ancient city of Ibadan is set to host the 4th edition of the Ibadan Basketball Championship on January 17 and 18, 2025, at the Adamasingba Stadium Basketball Court.  


According to Anthony George of BetterGeorge Sport Management and a member of the organizing committee, "Each edition of the championship is special, as it brings together the efforts of Ibadan's basketball community in the diaspora to give back to our city."  


George emphasized the personal significance of the championship, stating, "For us, it's about returning to our roots. We started our basketball journey in Ibadan, at Adamasingba, making this event truly special."  


The championship's ultimate goal, George explained, is to "encourage players to showcase their skills, develop the game, and discover new talent who may have better opportunities locally and internationally."  


This year's edition promises to be exciting, featuring:  


- Non-stop action from top male and female basketball teams  
- Wheelchair basketball  
- Cash prizes  
- Live music  
- Food and community vibes  


The winning team will receive an instant cash prize of ₦850,000.
