Harden Surpasses Ray Allen on All-Time 3-Point List in Clippers' Win Over Jazz

Posted : 18 November 2024

James Harden surpassed Ray Allen on the NBA’s all-time 3-point list during the LA Clippers' 116-105 victory over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. With his two 3-pointers, Harden now has 2,975 career threes, moving past Allen’s 2,973. He finished the game with 20 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds, contributing to the Clippers' success at Intuit Dome. Harden reflected on the achievement, emphasizing that it was a testament to his hard work and dedication over the years.

Harden spoke about the importance of the milestone, noting that it serves as motivation for others chasing their dreams. While proud of his accomplishment, he acknowledged that Stephen Curry’s record of 3,782 career 3-pointers is unlikely to be broken. Harden praised Curry’s shooting ability, recognizing how the game has evolved, with players like Curry able to create shots in various ways. He expressed confidence in his own abilities but conceded that Curry’s record might remain unchallenged for a long time.

The two players share a connection as part of the 2009 NBA draft class, with Harden going third overall to Oklahoma City and Curry selected seventh by Golden State. Together, they have significantly impacted the way basketball is played today, particularly in the realm of perimeter shooting. Clippers coach Ty Lue commended Harden for his scoring versatility, highlighting his ability to hit tough shots and adapt his game throughout his career.

Harden’s milestone was celebrated by former teammates, including Kevin Durant, who praised his dedication and work ethic. Durant shared a heartfelt message acknowledging Harden’s influence both on and off the court. Harden credited Durant and fellow former Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook for setting the foundation for his success, crediting them for teaching him the professionalism and work ethic that helped shape his NBA career.
