Great Britain pulled off an impressive 73-72 win over Greece in a thrilling FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifier, overcoming a significant deficit. Greece had built a 17-point lead, holding a 39-22 advantage just before halftime at the Copper Box Arena in London. However, the home side fought back steadily, reducing the gap with determined play.
The key moment in the game came when Great Britain went on a 21-3 scoring run, which gave them a 10-point lead. Although Greece mounted a challenge in the closing stages, the British team held firm to secure a memorable victory. With three matches played, Great Britain, Greece, and Slovakia are all tied on five points in Group F.
Gabriel Olaseni was Great Britain's top scorer with 16 points, while Akwasi Yeboah and Quinn Ellis each contributed 15 points. GB coach Marc Steutel praised his team’s grit and individual performances following the win. Despite being ranked 50th in the world, Great Britain’s victory over 13th-ranked Greece was a significant achievement, and the two teams will meet again on 24 November in Pylaia.
