Giannis Antetokounmpo Makes History with Triple-Double Performance in Bucks' Win Over 76ers

Posted : 04 April 2025

Giannis Antetokounmpo made NBA history on Thursday night, becoming the first player ever to record 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 20 assists as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 126-113. His all-around performance was key in helping the Bucks shoot 51.6% from beyond the arc.

This victory came on the heels of a dominant win over the Phoenix Suns, where Milwaukee shot an astounding 68.9% from the field, marking the highest shooting percentage in an NBA game since 1998.

This achievement adds to Antetokounmpo's impressive season, as he became the third player this year to record a game with at least 30 points and 20 assists, joining Nikola Jokic and Trae Young.

He also became the third player in Bucks history to achieve at least 20 assists in a game, following in the footsteps of Ramon Sessions and Guy Rodgers. His 20 assists in this game marked a personal career high. Reflecting on his role as the primary ball handler, Antetokounmpo emphasized the importance of making good decisions for his team and himself.

During the game, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers left the bench due to illness and watched from the locker room, allowing assistant coach Darvin Ham to take over.

With star guard Damian Lillard sidelined due to deep vein thrombosis, Ham noted that Antetokounmpo had to assume a more prominent distributor role. "Giannis has to think more like a point forward," Ham said, acknowledging Antetokounmpo's ability to adapt to this challenge and lead the team with precise ball movement and organization.
