The Nigeria Customs Women’s Basketball team were ruthless against the Commissioners of Liberia in their final group game of the ongoing FIBA Zone 3 Africa Women’s Basketball League, securing a resounding 77-18 victory inside the SKD Gymnasium in Paynesville, Monrovia, Liberia.
The Customs Ladies, who had already earned two hard-fought victories and secured a semi-final spot, were determined to win and top Group B. They started the game on the front foot from the jump ball, dismantling all the game plans of the Liberian women’s team like a wounded soldier.

The Border Girls dominated the Commissioners in each quarter, powering through strong to send a warning to Mountain of Fire Ministries Basketball Club, who finished second in Group A.
Reacting after the game, Head Coach Abdulrahman Mohammed said it’s always a good feeling when you win.
“Well, let me keep it short and simple: there’s a certain feeling when you win a game; it shows you’ve got all your plans right,” he said.
Speaking ahead of the semi-final game against Nigeria champions MFM Basketball team, Coach Abdulrahman said it’s a perfect chance for the team to redeem themselves after the loss in Lagos.
“We are here first to achieve our target, which is to play in the main championship, the African Women’s Basketball League, where we finished 5th last year. We have a team that can get us there, and the opportunity has also come for us to redeem ourselves from our loss in Lagos. I pray we pick up early like we have been doing so far in this championship.”
Both Nigerian basketball clubs will be in action on Saturday, Nov. 9, for the semi-finals. Friends Basketball Association of Ivory Coast will take on Energie Basketball of Benin Republic, while the Nigeria derby between FIBA AWBL Zone 3 Defending Champions, Nigeria Customs Service Basketball Team, and reigning Nigeria Champions, Mountain of Fire Ministries Basketball Team, will take place.
