Posted : 05 July 2023
Neftchi continued their dominant run by securing their second stop win in Israel at the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Netanya Stop 2023. Despite entering the event as the seventh seed, they showcased their strength and ruthlessness throughout the tournament. Led by Brianna Fraser's exceptional performance, they defeated the second-seeded Netherlands, Gyor, and Lithuania.
Neftchi's success can be attributed to the individual strengths of their players. Dina Ulyanova and Alexandra Mollenhauer were formidable defenders, while Arica Carter orchestrated the team on the court. In the semi-finals, Neftchi faced Israel, and although Alyssa Baron and Drew Edelman contributed all of Israel's points, it was not enough to overcome the lethal team from Azerbaijan.
China, the overwhelming favorites, started their run in Netanya with a close victory against Israel. Lili Wang's clutch plays, including two consecutive two-pointers, secured the win. They also defeated Sc. Yuanda and Czech Republic in group play before facing Sc. Yuanda again in the semi-finals.
In the finals, Neftchi executed a game plan focused on physicality, neutralizing China's size and speed advantage. With crucial contributions from Ulyanova and Mollenhauer on defense and timely shots from Carter, Neftchi took control of the game and maintained their lead. Despite China's efforts, Neftchi emerged victorious with a final score of 12-16.
Brianna Fraser stood out as the top scorer of the tournament, tallying 36 points and playing a crucial role in Neftchi's success. Their performance in the Women's Series has solidified their presence, and Fraser has been instrumental in their achievements.
