FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series 2023: Fribourg event features Neftchi, hopes to deliver

Posted : 06 July 2023
The FIBA 3x3 Women's Series 2023 Fribourg stop is set to be a thrilling two-day event, and the question is whether Neftchi can continue their dominant form. With several competitive teams in the mix, it's difficult to predict the winner, but a few teams stand out.

Neftchi, led by Brianna Fraser, showcased their strength in Netanya and are aiming for a repeat victory. The offensive prowess of Fraser and Arica Carter, combined with the defensive grit of Dina Ulyanova and Alexandra Mollenhauer, make them a formidable team from Azerbaijan.

Canada, despite missing the Plouffe sisters, enters as the top seed. With Kacie Bosch and Paige Crozon leading the way, they have proven their skills as the reigning FIBA 3x3 Women's Series champions. Carly Ahlstrom and Samantha Cooper complete their lineup.

France holds the top seeding in Group B and boasts a new lineup with promising talent. Marie Milapie returns, having previously won in Clermont-Ferrand, alongside Noemi Brochant, Camille Droguet, and Anna Ndjock.

China, eager to bounce back from their loss to Neftchi, brings the same squad led by Lili Wang and ZhiTing Zhang. They have been the most successful team this season and hope to add another stop win, although they face strong competition from Italy in Group C.

Group D features Sc. Yuanda, a consistent competitor this season. Led by Juntong Hao, they aim to convert their consistency into a stop win. They will face challenges from Japan and one of Latvia, Ukraine, and Switzerland.

Israel, the home team, showed their strength in Netanya and will seek redemption in the qualifying rounds with Drew Edelman and Alyssa Baron leading the way.

Portugal, known for their entertaining style, had an impressive run, narrowly missing out on a win against the French team. They will look for redemption in Switzerland.

Italy, led by Raelin D'Alie, is a wild card with a fearless approach. With players like Sara Madera, Chiara Consolini, and Debora Carangelo, they aim to make an impact in Fribourg and seek revenge against China.

The FIBA 3x3 Women's Series 2023 Fribourg stop promises excitement and intense competition as these talented teams battle it out on the court.
