Emma Seaman aspires to lead Belgium to European Championship victory
Posted : 25 June 2023
Emma Seaman, the shining star of the Belgian national team and possibly the entire Women's EuroBasket, has a remarkable story. Starting her basketball journey at the age of 16, she never even watched a basketball game before.
Yet, her overflowing trophy cabinet is not what truly matters to her. For the past 14 years, Emma has been passionately dreaming of one thing: leading Belgium to their first-ever victory in the European Championship. Tonight, in the Women's EuroBasket Final against Spain at 9:45 PM, her dream can become a reality.
Emma Seaman's impressive collection of accolades speaks volumes. She secured the WNBA championship in 2019, earned the Finals MVP title, triumphed as the Euroleague champion and MVP four times, and became the youngest player in Europe in 2011.
Additionally, she was named the Belgian and Russian league player of the year six times. However, if you were to inquire about her proudest achievement, the 30-year-old forward would point to something different: "They were all my sons, as they say, but what I'm most proud of in my career is continuing to play for the national team. Doing it alongside my girlfriends is what brings me the greatest joy."
Tonight, the joy could reach unprecedented heights for Seaman as she and her teammates strive to etch their names into history. The "Belgian Cats," as the team is fondly called, have the opportunity to capture their maiden European Championship victory. On paper, they are also considered the favorites against Spain, who have claimed the title four times.
