D’Tigers lose African top ranking spot in new FIBA World Rankings
Posted : 15 September 2023
Nigeria Male Basketball Team D’Tigers have dropped 18 places in the world ranking and also lost the top three country spot in the new ranking released by the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA).
Nigeria’s D’Tigers dropped 18 places to 37th in the world.
The slide understandably could be attributed to the disappointing performance of D'Tigers in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers held in Lagos where the team had an underwhelming performance.
In the newly released FIBA Rankings, D’Tigers accumulated 334.9 points, maintaining their 37th position globally and 5th in Africa.
At the top of the African rankings, South Sudan, fresh from their qualification for the Olympic Games, claimed the number one spot in Africa and 31st place worldwide.
