Damian Lillard's explosive Milwaukee debut secures thrilling win over Sixers; Lakers rally past Phoenix

Posted : 27 October 2023
In a stunning debut for Milwaukee, Damian Lillard, the 33-year-old star traded from Portland over the summer, displayed an unstoppable performance in a nail-biting 117-118 victory at home. Lillard notched an impressive 39 points, shooting 9-of-20 from the field and a perfect 17-of-17 from the free-throw line. He also contributed 8 rebounds and 4 assists, reaffirming Giannis Antetokounmpo's declaration that "This is Lillard's team."

Lillard's impact was evident throughout the game, with his first basket coming after four minutes, and he reached 21 points by halftime. However, it was in the fourth quarter that he truly shone, scoring 14 crucial points, including the last 11 for the Bucks. Two vital three-pointers by Lillard, one early in the game and another in the final minute, played a pivotal role in securing the victory for Milwaukee.

In addition to Lillard's remarkable performance, Giannis Antetokounmpo also had an outstanding game, contributing 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists, despite some turnovers. Notably, Giannis became the franchise's all-time leader in field goals with 5,905, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Brook Lopez added 13 points, and Bobby Portis contributed 10. On the Sixers' side, Tyrese Maxey impressed with 31 points and 8 assists, leading the team in the absence of James Harden. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 27 points, and Joel Embiid recorded 24 points and 7 steals.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers managed a comeback from a 12-point deficit in the final quarter, securing their first win of the season with a 95-100 victory over Phoenix. LeBron James played a crucial role, scoring four consecutive points to put the Lakers ahead 91-95 just 41 seconds into the game. Despite the desire to rest, James played for 35 minutes, contributing 21 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds. Anthony Davis had an outstanding performance with 30 points and 13 rebounds, while DeAngelo Russell added 14.

On the opposing side, Kevin Durant delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 39 points on 14-of-28 shooting from the field and climbing to 12th on the NBA's all-time leading scorer list. Eric Gordon chipped in with 15 points for the Suns, who played without Devin Booker.
