Head coach Steve Kerr expressed concern over the injury sustained by Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry during their 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers. Curry, a two-time MVP and key player for the Warriors, initially left the game in the third quarter after experiencing discomfort from a twisted ankle. Although he returned to the court four minutes into the fourth quarter, he quickly aggravated the injury and required assistance from teammate Gary Payton to exit to the locker room.
Kerr provided an update on Curry’s condition, mentioning that the player described the injury as "mild" or "moderate." However, the coach acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, noting that Curry has a history of ankle injuries. "He’s obviously sprained that ankle many times before," Kerr said, emphasizing that while Curry doesn't believe the injury is severe, it still remains a cause for concern.
In the game, Curry managed to score 18 points before his injury hampered his participation. Meanwhile, the Clippers saw strong performances from Ivica Zubac and James Harden, who both contributed 23 points to the victory. Zubac had a standout game, achieving his second consecutive double-double with 17 rebounds and six assists, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
Kerr highlighted Zubac's impact on the game, stating, "Every time they needed a bucket, they seemed to get one from Zubac." This consistent scoring from Zubac proved crucial for the Clippers, who managed to secure the win against the Warriors.
In other NBA action, the Boston Celtics secured a 124-118 victory over the Detroit Pistons, while the Houston Rockets narrowly fell to the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 109-106. Additionally, the Miami Heat celebrated the unveiling of a statue dedicated to franchise legend Dwyane Wade, who is the team's all-time leading scorer and played a pivotal role in winning three NBA Championships during his tenure in Miami. The Heat triumphed over the Charlotte Hornets with a 114-106 win on the same day.
