The Cleveland Cavaliers made history on Monday, becoming just the eighth team in NBA history to start a season with 12 straight wins, after defeating the Chicago Bulls 119-113. This marks the best start to a season since the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors, who set a record by winning their first 24 games. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 36 points, while five other Cavaliers players scored in double figures. Despite trailing by nine points in the third quarter, Cleveland mounted a comeback to secure the win.
Mitchell reflected on the team's resilience, saying, "We dug deep," and emphasized that this kind of effort will be essential for their long-term success. He praised the Cavaliers’ collective approach, noting, "Every night it's somebody different. We're playing for each other, being selfless." The Cavaliers have shown consistent teamwork, and Mitchell stressed the importance of maintaining their momentum.
On the opposing side, Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 26 points, while Coby White and Nikola Vucevic contributed 20 points each. Despite their efforts, the Bulls fell to 4-7 on the season, continuing to struggle with consistency.
Elsewhere, Victor Wembanyama posted an impressive 34 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists to help the San Antonio Spurs defeat the Sacramento Kings 116-96. The Spurs' starters all contributed with double figures, including Julian Champagnie (13 points) and Chris Paul (12 points).
In another thrilling match, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career-high 45 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 134-128 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, following their loss to the Golden State Warriors over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets edged the New Orleans Pelicans 107-105, and the Houston Rockets triumphed over the Washington Wizards 107-92.
