The NBA's prominent free agent, Christian Wood, made a significant move by signing a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, realizing his dream of becoming a part of the Lakers.
Wood, who was a key player for Dallas last season, has made a noteworthy sacrifice in terms of salary. His previous salary in Dallas was approximately $14 million per season, but he will earn $2.7 million this season with the Lakers, with the option to become a free agent next summer.
If Wood decides to continue with the Lakers, he will earn $20.24 million in the following season. In the previous season, Wood, a versatile interior player, contributed significantly, averaging 16.6 points with an impressive shooting percentage of 51.5% from the field and 37.6% from beyond the arc. He also secured 7.3 rebounds, often playing as a valuable bench player.
The Lakers, who fell short in the Western Conference Finals last season, have had a highly successful offseason and are considered strong contenders for an NBA championship. Wood's addition to the team complements other signings, including Gabe Vincent, Torian Prince, Cam Reddish, and Jackson Hayes. Austin Reaves remains with the team on favorable terms, and the Lakers have also secured new contracts with DeAngelo Russell and Rui Hachimura.
