Celtics Stage Historic Comeback, Mavs Suffer Crushing Loss to Cavs

Posted : 03 February 2025

The Boston Celtics pulled off an incredible comeback to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 118-110, overcoming a 26-point deficit. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown spearheaded the rally in the final quarter, combining for 25 points as the Celtics went on a 16-3 run.

Tatum finished with 35 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds, while Brown added 21 points and 10 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 34 points, but without Joel Embiid and Paul George, the team fell short, marking their second consecutive loss.

In Memphis, the Grizzlies extended their winning streak against the Milwaukee Bucks to seven games, defeating them 115-104 despite missing Ja Morant. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 37 points, supported by Santi Aldama’s 23 points and 22 from Desmond Bane.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a stellar performance for the Bucks, finishing with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, but it wasn't enough to prevent a fourth loss in five games for Milwaukee, who remain in a tough stretch.

The Dallas Mavericks suffered a historic defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, losing 144-101. The Mavs’ first game without Luka Doncic was marked by an abysmal first half, where Cleveland dominated, leading 91-46 at halftime.

The Cavs set several team records, including the most points scored in a half and the largest halftime lead. Evan Mobley led Cleveland with 22 points, while Sam Merrill contributed 27 points off the bench. Klay Thompson had a dismal performance, finishing with just 2 points on 1-of-10 shooting.

Despite missing several key players, including Kyrie Irving and P.J. Washington, the Mavericks' disastrous loss raises concerns for the team as they enter a new era following the Luka Doncic trade. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons, after three straight losses, rebounded with a 19-6 run in the fourth quarter to secure a 122-112 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Cade Cunningham was the standout performer with 22 points and 15 assists, while Jalen Duren added 21 points and 14 rebounds. The Bulls continue to struggle, having won only three of their last 12 games.
