Cavaliers Make NBA History with 15th Consecutive Win to Start Season

The Cleveland Cavaliers made history by winning their first 15 games of the regular season, joining an elite group of NBA teams with this accomplishment after defeating the Charlotte Hornets 128-114. This impressive victory marks the Cavaliers as only the fourth team in NBA history to achieve such a start, following in the footsteps of the Washington Capitols (1949), Houston Rockets (1994), and Golden State Warriors (2016). Notably, all these previous teams reached the NBA Finals, with the Rockets being the only one to secure the championship.

 

In the game against the Hornets, Darius Garland led the Cavaliers with 25 points, while Ty Jerome stepped up with an impressive 24 points in place of the injured Donovan Mitchell. Evan Mobley contributed significantly with a double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jarrett Allen also had a standout performance, adding 21 points and 15 rebounds. Despite a strong effort from LaMelo Ball, who led the Hornets with 31 points, Charlotte couldn't overcome Cleveland's balanced attack.

 

Following the win, Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen praised the support from their home crowd, highlighting the energy and enthusiasm of the Cleveland fans. "It’s incredible how Cleveland has adopted us," Allen remarked. "They come to every game, yelling for everything. The city of Cleveland has our backs." The team's remarkable start has generated excitement throughout the city, with fans rallying behind their success.

 

The Cavaliers now sit atop the Eastern Conference standings and are preparing for a highly anticipated matchup against the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics. This upcoming game on Tuesday will be a significant test for Cleveland as they face off against the second-placed team in the conference, looking to continue their historic winning streak and further cement their position as early-season contenders.
