The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to dominate the NBA, adding another milestone to their impressive season with a 109-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The win extended their streak to 15 games, tying the franchise record set earlier in the season, and placed them among the top five best starts in NBA history at 55-10.
Center Jarrett Allen acknowledged the team’s success but emphasized the importance of celebrating accomplishments along the way. Even without key players like Donovan Mitchell, De'Andre Hunter, and Ty Jerome, the Cavaliers overcame an 18-point deficit to secure the win.
All-Star point guard Darius Garland played a pivotal role in the comeback, scoring 18 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter. He credited Mitchell for motivating him with a simple message: "Shoot the ball." Having spent his entire career with Cleveland, Garland also expressed pride in the team's achievement, asking team president Koby Altman if a banner would be put up at their practice facility.
Despite the excitement, he remained focused on the bigger goal, emphasizing the importance of staying healthy for the playoffs. The Cavaliers’ postseason aspirations were derailed last year by injuries to Mitchell and Allen, which contributed to their loss to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
First-year coach Kenny Atkinson reassured that Mitchell’s current injury is not serious and highlighted the need to manage player fatigue as the season winds down. He praised the team's resilience in maintaining their winning streak, acknowledging the difficulty of sustaining such a high level of play.
Atkinson admitted that while their ultimate goal is bigger, their achievements so far should not be overlooked. With 17 games remaining, Cleveland holds a commanding lead in the Eastern Conference and remains in contention for the best overall record in the league.
The Cavaliers have also established a formidable home-court advantage, boasting the NBA’s best home record at 30-4. Brooklyn coach Jordi Fernandez commended their confidence and execution in clutch moments, calling them a well-coached team that is entertaining to watch.
As the regular season nears its end, Cleveland remains focused on securing the No. 1 seed in the East and preparing for a deep playoff run, determined to turn their regular-season dominance into postseason success.
