Boston took charge right away and never looked back, dominating the Miami Heat from the start, shooting over 50% from the field, forcing them into 16 turnovers that led to 27 points, and having four players finish with at least 20 points in a 110-99 victory.
"Our back has been against the wall," said Jaylen Brown, who finished with 21 points.
"Obviously, we didn't imagine being in this position, being down 3-0, but when adversity hits, you get to see what a team is really made of.
"It couldn't get worse than being down 3-0, but we didn't look around, we didn't go in separate directions. We stayed together."
The Celtics made progress toward their goal of being the first NBA club to come back from a 3-0 disadvantage and triumph in a best-of-seven series.
The Celtics are really only the 22nd club to lose 3-0 in a series with a greater regular-season winning percentage than their opponent out of the 151 occasions that a series has reached that point.
The Celtics will now attempt to accomplish what those teams failed to do: win in Miami on Saturday night and force a Game 7 to be played here on Memorial Day.
