Some participants at the recently concluded annual Aminu Good Work Foundation (AGWF) elite basketball camp have expressed their appreciation for the organizers, highlighting the successful hosting of the event. Organized by Al-Farouq Aminu, the 2015 AfroBasket Champion and former D’Tigers forward, the camp gathered 35 boys and 41 girls under the U-19 category from Oyo State, delivering substantial knowledge and skills to all attendees.
In separate interviews, participants shared their insights and experiences gained during the three-day camp. Daniel Oladejo, a 17-year-old attendee, described the camp as enriching, emphasizing that it went beyond basketball skills to impart life lessons such as punctuality, honesty, and neatness. "We had the chance to compete with the best players in the state," he remarked.
Victor Ariyo, a 13-year-old participant with two years of basketball experience, expressed his enthusiasm for attending his first AGWF camp, praising the focus on fundamental skills like dribbling, post moves, and court awareness. "I hope for more opportunities like this to continue learning and improving," he added.
Okikiola Akintayo, aged 14, highlighted his newfound abilities in passing, cutting, and footwork, noting the camp's positive impact on his game. "It was an enriching experience that broadened my basketball knowledge and skills," he shared.
Pelumi Ogundele, a 15-year-old attending his second AGWF camp, appreciated the comprehensive support provided by the organizers, including accommodation, meals, and training gear. "Despite the challenges, they exceeded my expectations, teaching us important tactics like jabbing, defensive maneuvers, and court composure," he reflected.
Overall, the AGWF elite basketball camp not only sharpened the participants' basketball skills but also instilled values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. The event's success underscored its role in nurturing young talent and fostering a supportive environment for aspiring basketball players in Oyo State. Participants left with new friendships, enhanced skills, and a renewed motivation to excel in both sports and life, eagerly anticipating future editions of the camp to further their growth and development.
