Azerbaijan and Cyprus compete in FIBA U16 European Championship 2023 Final for title

Azerbaijan and Cyprus are set to face off in the Final of the FIBA U16 European Championship 2023, Division C, following their victories in the Semi-Finals on Wednesday.
For Azerbaijan, a win in the Final would mark their first-ever title at the event, while Cyprus is aiming to return to the top step of the podium for the first time since 2016.
In the opening Semi-Final, Azerbaijan dominated Andorra with an impressive 87-64 victory. Three players stood out with double-doubles: Arda Cevahir led the team with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 4 assists, Derin Berkoz contributed 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Huseyn Gaflanov recorded 16 points and 16 rebounds. Andorra's Ignasi Armengol and Marc Rodriguez Garcia scored 21 points each in defeat.
In the other Semi-Final, Cyprus secured a convincing 74-49 win against previously unbeaten hosts, Kosovo. Demir Oztoprak led the scoring with an impressive 28 points, including four three-pointers, while Dimitris Mannaris had a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks, also making four three-pointers.
In the Classification Group 5-9 matches, Armenia outclassed Malta with a dominant 93-36 victory, and San Marino secured their first win of the tournament by defeating Gibraltar 65-48.
The tournament will conclude on Thursday with the highly anticipated Final between Azerbaijan and Cyprus.
