Sunshine Angels Basketball Club of Akure lost its second match of the Atlantic Conference Elite League competition at the indoor sports hall of the Ondo State Sports Complex.
The coach Shola Aluko-tutored side threw everything at their opponents in the early stages of the first quarter, with shooting guard Itunu Ogunbajo showcasing skills, strength, and experience in the middle of the court to give the Angels a comfortable lead.
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Basketball Club, however, turned things around in the second quarter, giving the Angels tough moments with their strong defensive skills.
Iyanu Ramon of Sunshine Angels, however, ignited the arena with her shots, recording three-point shots for the Ondo State team in quick succession.
Moments later, in the third quarter, Gift Anani showed her class by making some impressive runs after dispossessing opponents and dunking the ball into the net for her team.
MFM, however, rallied late to defeat Sunshine Angels 68-55.
Sunshine Angels shooting guard Itunu Ogunbajo, in a chat with journalists after the game, described the loss as painful.
"Sincerely, we don't deserve to lose, but that's sports for you; it happens. We have the mental strength to keep pushing, and I'm sure the victories will come."
Earlier, FirstBank Basketball Club convincingly defeated First Deep Waters Basketball Club 55-17, while Delta Force had a forceful performance against IGP with a 45-47 points win.
In the last match of the day, Dolphins Basketball Club demonstrated determination from start to finish, securing their second win by defeating Team Bayelsa 54-41.
