Following their remarkable performance at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference in Dakar two weeks ago, Rivers Hoopers head coach Ogoh Odaudu has set new targets for the Playoffs. Initially aiming to make the playoffs, the KingsMen exceeded expectations by finishing as Sahara Conference champions with a 4-2 record. This achievement marks a significant improvement from their performance at the inaugural edition of the BAL in 2021, where they only managed one win out of three games.

Odaudu expressed his excitement about returning to Kigali and competing for the title this time around. After two seasons of watching the playoffs on television, the team is thrilled to be participating live in the arena. They see this opportunity as a chance to prove themselves on the continental stage and make their mark in BAL history.

The coach highlighted the enthusiasm within the team, emphasizing their eagerness to continue their success in the playoffs. He believes that their strong performance in the Sahara Conference is just the beginning, and they are determined to maintain their momentum as they progress through the playoffs. The team is focused and motivated to build on their achievements and push for even greater success.

Hoopers' success in becoming the first Nigerian team to win more than one BAL game and make the BAL Playoffs has fueled their ambition. Odaudu now aims to set even more records in Kigali, including securing a podium finish. With their impressive display of talent and determination, they are confident in their ability to compete against the best teams in Africa and make history once again.

As they prepare for their upcoming matches, the KingsMen remain grounded and focused on taking each game as it comes. They understand the importance of staying disciplined and not getting ahead of themselves. Their immediate focus is on the seeding game against AS Douanes, which they see as an opportunity to test their strengths and identify areas for improvement before the quarter-final match.

Despite their ambitious goals, Odaudu emphasized the importance of taking things one step at a time and staying humble. He recognizes that success in the playoffs will require hard work, determination, and focus. The team is fully committed to giving their all in every game and making their supporters proud. With their eyes set on the prize, the KingsMen are ready to face whatever challenges come their way and strive for greatness on the court.
