2023 NBBF Premier Basketball League kicks-off in four cities

The delayed 2023 NBBF Premier Basketball League has now tipped off in four cities: Abuja, Asaba, Lafia, and Ibadan, with 26 clubs in attendance.
Fourteen of the clubs are in the Savannah Conference, while 12 are in the Atlantic Conference, and each conference is divided into A and B.
In the Abuja Play-off group A, you have Kano Pillars, Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Army, Niger Potters, Nile University, Bauchi Nets, and Kada Stars. In group B, which uses Lafia as their play-off venue, you'll find Benue Braves, Correctional, Gboko City Chiefs, Gombe Bulls, Mark Mentors, NSCDC Defenders, and Plateau Peaks.
As for Asaba, the teams include Rivers Hoopers, Delta Force, Police Batons, Lagos Legends, and Lagos Raptors. In Ibadan, the defending champions Kwara Falcons are joined by Hoops and Reads, Lagos Islanders, Impressions, Comets, Ondo Raiders, Invaders, and Oluyole Warriors.
Lagos Legends and Delta Force will kick off the games in Asaba, followed by the match between Lagos Raptors and Police Batons.
The defending champions, Kwara Falcons, secured a victory over Comets with a score of 60-55 on Sunday. Hoops and Reads also emerged victorious, defeating Ondo Raiders 78-49, while Oluyole Warriors narrowly beat Impressions with a score of 48-42.
On Monday, Niger Potters will face Kano Pillars on Match Day 1 of group A in the Savannah Conference, while Kada Stars will battle Nile University, and Bauchi Nets will go up against Excise, the Nigeria Customs.
In Lafia, Gboko City Chiefs have a score to settle with Defenders, Benue Braves will face Plateau Peaks, and Gombe Bulls will confront Correctional in group B of the Savannah Conference play-off.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the final eight in Lagos next month. The winner of the 2023 NBBF Premier League will represent Nigeria at the 2024 BAL in Kigali, Rwanda.
