2023 FIBA AfroCan: Congo Democratic Republic humbles D'Tigers of Nigeria

Nigeria’s D'Tigers on Thursday suffered the second defeat at the ongoing 2023 FIBA AfroCan in Angola as the team was handed a slim 72-74 loss by the defending champions, Congo Democratic Republic in the quarter-finals match.
The loss to the Central African country means D'Tigers have lost the ground of a podium finish in the 2023 FIBA AfroCan as they failed to qualify for the semifinals.
DTigers in the Match against Congo Democratic Republic lost the opening quarter 19-31, but won the last three quarters with small margins which cost them dearly in the game.
Kanyisola Joseph led Nigeria in scoring with 23 points while Chinedu Martins pulled a leading 9pt rebound for Tigers.
D'Tigers had on Wednesday redeemed themselves as they overpowered their Gabonese counterparts with a comfortable 71-55 to return the winning ways after defeat to Angola on Monday.
D'Tigers of Nigeria before the defeat had ensured a bright start to the campaign on Sunday when they defeated Mali.
However, a sloppy game against Angola in the second match on Monday almost cost the Nigerian side the quarter-final ticket berth, but they rallied to beat Gabon on Wednesday.
Up next for Nigeria is a consolation 5th-8th classification match against Kenya today.
